“…my Father in heaven will do it for you.” – Matthew 18:19 (NET)

“Again, I tell you the truth, if two of you on earth agree about whatever you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you.” – Matthew 18:19 (NET)

Here’s a thought…

What if the “two of you on earth” that Jesus is referring to above are simply the masculine and feminine sides of each of us…the part of us that exists down here in the world of the relative?  What if when we finally bring our personal polarities into balance, into agreement, it rids us of the core conflicts that restrict our ability to receive God’s blessings?

In other words, God would be able to answer our prayers faster if we weren’t so constantly confused about what it is we wanted…and that this confusion is brought on simply by an imbalance of our inner male and female.  Our inner masculine and feminine sides must learn to see eye-to-eye, must learn to agree, so we can focus and God can fulfill our requests.  We must stop living an extreme version of ourselves.

But, how do we balance our positive and negative, our light and dark, our yang and yin, our left and right, our male and female?  Let’s take a look at the general definitions of each by looking at the left brain and the right brain.

According to Paul Devereux in the book, Symbolic Landscapes, “The human brain is divided into two ‘halves’ or hemispheres, separated by a band of over two million fibres called the corpus callosum. In each hemisphere is an area known as the temporal lobe, which seems to be related to dreaming, hallucinations or visions, language and other functions. These two are connected across the corpus callosum by a thin bundle of nerve fibres called the anterior commissure. In very crude terms (it is more complicated than this), the left brain handles speech, logic, analytical thought, stage-by-stage cognition, while the right hemisphere handles gestalt, patterns, connections, intuition, emotion and poetic matters.”

Let’s think about it this way, our analytical male side, left brain, is our “mind,” while our intuitive female side, right brain, is our “heart.”  By “mind” I don’t mean brain and by “heart” I don’t mean that pumping muscle in the middle of your chest.  The symbolic mind (logic) and heart (emotion) must come into agreement.

I believe it was author Alberto Villoldo who said the corpus callosum, that part of your brain that connects the right brain/feminine side to the left brain/masculine side, just may be the seat of your soul.  He just may be correct, and hence, it is my theory that your soul, itself, can bring your left and right into agreement and open the door to God’s blessings.  Your mind and heart being the positive and negative sides of your ego.  Your ego being the part of you created by God to survive in this world of the relative.

Author Gary Zukav said the purpose of life is to balance your ego with your soul.  Carl Jung spoke of individuation coming from a balance of what he called the ego-Self axis.

I see it like a triangle, the ego at the bottom divided into masculine and feminine, the soul at the top where the two lines, both positive and negative, merge into a higher, balanced and whole version of itself/themselves.

But, how does the soul do this connecting of right and left, heart and mind?

A student of the chakras, the seven (main) energy centers that rule our physical bodies and health, will learn that it is the throat that stands between the heart and the mind.  Could the throat also be another seat of the soul?  Alberto Villoldo mentions a connection between a clear throat chakra and intuitive abilities.

So, to wrap up this thought.  Your throat, is your center of expression.  It is your voice.  The having of an authentic voice, I dare say, is what stands between you and a balanced masculine and feminine side.  A soulful voice.  A creative voice.  Where your heart says, “this is what I want to create,” and the mind says, “this is how you create it,” and your throat…actually creates “it.”  Whether you are painting, singing, writing, dancing, cooking, you are speaking your authentic voice.

Man and woman come together to create “another.”  It can be another human.  Or symbolically, your inner male and female can come together to create whatever they/you desire…a beautiful painting, a story, a quilt, a fine meal, etc.

The yin and yang symbol has a dark and light side that make a circle of wholeness, two halves making a whole.  And, they say, the two halves are rolling in constant conflict causing the tension and friction needed to “create” something new.

As we know, God is the Great Creator, the Great Artist, and all He needs is agreement between your inner yin and yang, so that He can answer your prayers.  And, this agreement is made simply by channeling God’s creative energy into your life…through the speaking of your authentic voice…in whatever creative outlet you choose for yourself and for Him.
